During your holiday in Santa Eulària des Riu, why not check out our programme? You are sure to find some interesting event taking place in one of our municipal venues where the arts, culture and interesting topics are showcased. One venue in particular, the Teatro España, deserves special attention. Inaugurated in 1929, it was the undisputed social centre of the village, a place where townsfolk could gather on Sundays and holidays to spend an enjoyable evening of music and dancing. Before long, more events – plays, lectures, sonadas payesas (country sonnets), even circus performances and boxing matches – were added to the lineup. And when cinema became available, the box-office hits of the day – both national and international – were projected there.

Since 2007, the Teatro España has come under municipal stewardship, and, following its refurbishment, is again showing films – including 3D films – and staging dramatic performances. With a seating capacity of 284, this large hall also offers original-version films so that foreigners can enjoy a bit of summer cinema. In addition to the Teatro España, the municipality has civic centres in Jesús and Puig d’en Valls as well as the Carrer Sant Jaume Exhibition Gallery and, their premier venue: the Palacio de Congresos de Ibiza, both of these last mentioned located in the Santa Eulària town centre.
