Around the fourth weekend in the month of May, Santa Eulària des Riu lays out a very special theatre event. For several days, the town sponsors all types of dramatic arts specifically intended to be enjoyed by the whole family. Aimed at attracting young audiences to the magic of the stage, the programme includes a wide range of theatre groups from the rest of Spain as well as other countries, which all told put on some twenty different shows.
The Teatro España, the Palau de Congressos and the Sala de Exposiciones, along with the town’s main streets are the sites where these performances are typically held. This is one event you won’t want to miss, featuring both free shows and paid admission, but at very reasonable prices. If you are a foreign visitor, don’t worry. The Barruguet Family Theatre Festival includes numerous acts featuring mime and music so that travellers of other languages can enjoy the festival, too.
