Pujada al Puig de Missa
This race, celebrated on the fourth Sunday in January, has become one of the biggest draws on the Pityusan sports calendar, especially because it offers four different levels: two designed for children and young people; one that covers 2,2 kilometres, and the so-called Pujada Extrem, an 11-kilometre course with an accumulated incline of 800 metres. All four races share the common goal of reaching the top of Puig de Missa.
Town to town race: Passeig a Passeig
This 15-kilometre race takes place in mid-March, setting off from the Vara de Rey Promenade in Ibiza Town and finishing at the s’Alamera Promenade in Santa Eulària des Riu. It is one of the most eagerly anticipated events in the island’s sports agenda due to the fact than anyone who feels so inclined can participate with a spirit of bonhomie. In addition to the main race, which can be done individually or in teams, there are categories for children as well as cyclists and skaters.
Santa Eulària Ibiza Marathon
This is the island’s sports competition with the highest international profile, a fixture that year after year increases its number of participants. It is held in early April in the evening hours and includes a full long-distance marathon, a 22-km run, and a 12-km run. Sign up for the route that fits your training level and enjoy a beautiful course between Ibiza Town and Santa Eulària. In conjunction with the marathon races, parallel activities are also organized for the enjoyment of the participants and their companions.
Vuelta Ibiza MTB Scott
This mountain bike stage race is held in the month of April and covers a range of hilly terrains across Ibiza. Renowned for winding through the island’s most beautiful roads, trails and natural settings, it is the perfect event for nature lovers. Part of the course traverses the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu, for which reason we include it in our calendar of sports events.
Ultraswim
Between the end of May and the beginning of June, Santa Eulària’s Yacht Club organizes a spectacular open-sea swim race that covers a distance of 30 kilometres. If resistance swimming is your passion, sign up for this scored event in the Copa de España competition, with a route that crosses the seaway between Santa Eulària (Ibiza) and Es Pujols (Formentera).
Vuelta Cicloturista a Ibiza Campagnolo
This cycling event, held in October, has become an important sports fixture on the island, attracting well-known cyclists. It spans three or four consecutive days and combines challenging against-the-clock stretches with less demanding ones in which participants can enjoy bicycle tourism in a beautiful Mediterranean setting.
Cursa de sa Sobrassada
If your visit coincides with the autumn, don’t miss this half-marathon, held in the afternoon hours in late November, as part of the Santa Gertrudis fiestas. Attracting a broad range of participants, the race can be done individually or in teams containing a maximum of three runners. The Cursa de sa Sobrassada (roughly, ‘Sausage Run’) also includes categories for children and youth.
