The Santa Eulària des Riu Town Hall commemorates International Women's Day, 8th March, with an extensive programme of free activities for all audiences, demonstrating its firm commitment to gender equality.
The programme, which runs throughout the month of March, includes a wide range of cultural and leisure activities with the aim of raising awareness and sensitising people to the importance of equality between men and women, and will have two main areas of action.
On the one hand, music and theatre for all ages, with a recital dedicated to great female composers and plays for different ages, as well as dramatised readings. In addition, there will be a recital by the Bis@bis group dedicated to women composers, theatre for students in the 4th year of ESO (‘Quitarse el sombrero’) and the play ‘La mujer más importante de la historia’ (‘The most important woman in history’) for children over 8 years of age. For the youngest children, there will be children's storytelling with the workshop ‘I count with you: stories for equality’ and a dramatised children's concert ‘L'autobús de na Rosa és per a totes! For teenagers, there will also be a screening of the play ‘Feas’, for those aged 16 and over.
On the other hand, a photographic exhibition has been prepared, entitled ‘Mujeres del mar: Rumbo a la igualdad’ (Women of the sea: Towards equality) and various activities in the municipal library and in the Punts Joves (Youth Points). In addition, there will be workshops on adventurous women and singular women for children and teenagers, respectively, and a special bibliographic corner dedicated to the subject of women's rights will be set up.
The Santa Eulària des Riu Town Council stresses the importance of promoting gender equality in all areas of society and encourages all citizens to take part in these activities.
